10 Things Parents and Leaders Must Let Go Of To Move Forward

Last Sunday was Mother’s Day and it got me thinking that much of motherhood (and fatherhood) is about managing transitions … moving gracefully from one stage in life to the other.

With our son Adam preparing to graduate and go off to university in the fall, his Dad and I are facing a transition that is, in some ways, more significant than the one we encountered when he was born.

Being a parent has probably been my greatest leadership journey to date. There are countless lessons I’ve learned that have made me a better person, parent and, ultimately, leader. And perhaps the greatest learning I’ve had as both a parent and leader is: how to let go.
