How did it get to be the end of June already? In January, the beginning of the Summer seems like a distant dream, and then, wham! – here it is.
June often feels like the ‘end of the year' to me (I'm sure it's a hangover from many years in the school system). As such, I find myself reflecting on the past few months and taking stock.
I feel incredible gratitude for my clients, who've let me share in their leadership development initiatives, and also gratitude for you, for taking the time to read my blog posts.
And I particularly want to thank you for experimenting with me on projects like my 30-minute webinars. The content I create, and the work I do to help people thrive as leaders and in life only matters if it's of real value to others.
I hope you'll indulge me as I take a moment to share some of my high points over the past several months. And, I also hope that you'll take the time to reflect on your accomplishments and share them with me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Here's a highlight reel from this year:
Speaking At The AICPA Summit In San Francisco
On November 12th, I spoke at the AICPA Women's Global Leadership Summit in San Francisco. I hosted a session on ‘Winning Work With Confidence.' It was so wonderful to connect with such an inspiring group of women, who all left with thought-provoking worthiness and business-boosting tips.
Taking Teekay's Leadership Development Program Global
Teekay – one of the world's largest marine energy transportation, storage and production companies, licensed LEAD: 6 Skills To Be A RockStar Leader to support their focus on employee development and the sustainability of a learning culture. I taught their global HR leaders to deliver the program, and the program has been successfully delivered to their employees in two cohorts in Vancouver, and 2 cohorts in Norway. The program has been a great success for Teekay. They will continue with rolling the program out to other locations, including Australia and Asia aimed for this Fall.
Working With The Diverse Vancouver Aquarium Leadership Team
I loved working with such a diverse leadership team at the Vancouver Aquarium, comprised of scientists, vets, and communications and operations professionals. They participated in my LEAD ADVANCED program which helps people lead their organization to even greater success. It offers pragmatic tools to apply in every day situations and a bigger, broader perspective on what it means to be leader. Lori Howe, Vice President, Human Resources had this to say:
“It has been wonderful working with Lisa on the LEAD ADVANCED program. She’s taken the time to get to know us and is always asking great questions to make the most of our time together. The feedback from our senior team has been excellent – many of whom were pleasantly surprised with the quality and effectiveness of the sessions, along with the team building that has naturally taken place. Thank you Lisa for helping to make us even better!”
Sharing At The WNorth Conference
I've always been a huge supporter of women in leadership and women on the rise, so I was thrilled to play a part in this fabulous WNorth conference that took place in Whistler in April.
There were so many wonderful opportunities to learn and connect with women who wanted to take control of their career elevation. A huge shout out to Heather Odendaal, WNorth Founder, who pulled the conference together while juggling a job and a newborn.
Hosting A Global Webinar For Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers
Ritchie Bros. is a global leader in asset management and disposition, and the world's largest industrial auctioneer. They help thousands of people around the world appraise, sell, inspect, buy, refurbish, ship and finance heavy equipment and trucks. I had the pleasure of presenting a session on how to find work-life harmony for their leaders at their head office in Burnaby. My talk was live-streamed to their offices around the world so their global leaders could partake in the session as well. And Ritchie Bros. also generously gave each participant a copy of one of my books and access to my online Harmony Self-Assessment.
Helping TD Bank's Women To Thrive
I had the opportunity to speak at TD Bank's Women in Leadership events in both Toronto and Edmonton this year. I shared insights on Mastering the Art of Thriving. It was such a pleasure to help the women of TD Bank to thrive in their leadership roles, and to hear about their newly-developed habits and perspectives after having attended my sessions. Event organizer, Lydia Cutler, had this to say:
“People really liked your approachable style and sense of humour, not to mention the thought-provoking and action-inducing content. We've challenged attendees to hold each other accountable to their action plans!”
I continue to work with outstanding people one-on-one, offering personal leadership learning solutions and executive coaching for high-level entrepreneurs, CEOs, and senior executives from various industries.
Through helping others to Lead + Live better, I find that my skills strengthen as well. Coaching others makes me a better leader, and I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such amazing individuals.
Taking a Break
Lastly, I want to give you the heads up that I'll be taking a break from blogging until August. It's been a very full and creative time for me. I want to continue to provide you with valuable content, and to do so, I need to stop creating for a few weeks and let the well refill. I'm looking forward to a little down time to play with my family and friends, enjoy a few patios, and get in lots of SUPing.
I hope that you'll take the time to rest, reset and refresh too, and enjoy your Summer.
